It’s Maryland sports betting launch week.
No need to rub your eyes. You read that right. It’s actually here.
About a year and a half into a tedious process that saw online sports gambling in Maryland bogged down in the mire of state bureaucracy, top sportsbooks will launch starting Wednesday. State regulators announced Nov. 23 as the start date for online Maryland sports betting.
To this end, DraftKings; FanDuel; BetMGM; Caesars; BetRivers; PointsBet and BetRivers are expected to go live this week.
We know. Suddenly, it’s a lot to take in for interested bettors.
No worries. From A to Z, we have you covered for the kickoff of Maryland sports betting.
Maryland Sports Betting Launch: Exactly when does it start?
We have a time: 9 a.m. ET on Nov. 23. That said, Maryland online sportsbook operators also did a soft launch on Monday as part of a controlled demonstration ahead of the full launch.
It was the last step before a sportsbook can go fully operational in Maryland. How did that work? Sportsbooks will likely take a small number of wagers before Wednesday. From there, Maryland regulators will perform an audit of those wagers to make sure everything is copacetic.
So if you see buzz online about your favorite Sportsbook taking wagers before Wednesday, just know that it’s part of this systems test.
In case you miss that early window where Maryland sportsbooks are taking select few bets, a reminder: The real show begins starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
What Maryland sportsbooks can I expect to launch?
Eventually, lots. Maryland will grant up to 60 mobile sports wagering licenses in time, and state officials expect 21 to be operation by football season 2023.
But this week, you can expect the major players for the Maryland sports betting launch. Maryland gambling regulators approved 10 mobile licenses at its mid-November meeting.
To list, those are:
- DraftKings Maryland
- Caesars Maryland
- BetMGM Maryland
- FanDuel Maryland
- PointsBet Maryland
- Barstool Maryland
- BetFred Maryland
- Fanatics Maryland
- Parx Interactive
- Rush Street Interactive (BetRivers)
Of those, all but BetFred, Fanatics and Parx are expected to be part of this week’s online gambling kickoff in Maryland. Additionally, state regulators will potentially award another 11 Maryland licenses at their December meeting.
OK, so how do I sign up for a Maryland sports betting app?
In general, that process is pretty much the same for most of the apps. Let’s run through it.
To start, check out the Maryland sports betting promos. We recommend taking full advantage of those promos. They offer a good introduction to online sports betting, for starters. What’s more, those promos provide perks that help you get a feel for how it all works.
Spot one you like? OK. Click the link to the promo you wish to use. Choose your device (Apple or Android) and proceed to the download page.

Two important things to note:
Firstly, you will not need to be a Maryland resident in order to wager with Maryland sportsbooks.
Secondly, you will also not need to have a Maryland license to bet in the state.
Knowing that, when you reach the Maryland betting app’s registration screen, you’ll likely submit your name, address, email, phone number, date of birth, and Social Security. Afterward, you’ll create a personal username and password. Type in the promo code, if one is required. Quite a few Maryland Sportsbooks are not requiring a welcome code, at this time.
Deposit Funds (If That’s Required for the Maryland Bonus)
Some sites require you to deposit a small amount to get the welcome offer. If they do, credit and debit cards are common deposit options. If you’d rather use a bank transfer, that’s a touch trickier: Not every bank approves transactions to sportsbooks. But online wallets like PayPal are another alternative if you run into an issue using a bank transfer.
Receive Bonus Offer
Now the part you’re most interested in. To claim your promotional funds, access the cashier in the same area of the display as you found the registration option.
After that, you’ll all set to begin making wagers for the Maryland sports betting launch.
Maryland bonus offers, you say? Do tell more
Ahead of Wednesday’s launch, a number of sites are promoting Maryland welcome offers to encourage new users to sign up. These bonuses come in several forms usually: Free bets (essentially site credits you can use), first-bet insurance (think, refunds up to a certain amount if your initial wager is not successful), and deposit-match bonuses (where sportsbook matches the initial deposit into a sportsbook account with an equal or proportionate amount of site credit).
That said, you’ll want to hurry on the current offers – some expire soon with the launch fast approaching.
Then again, if you miss out on a welcome offer, chances are there’ll be plenty more from the same operator later.
To sum up, here’s the current Maryland welcome offers:
- DraftKings Maryland: DraftKings has just released its launch day offer of bet $5 and get $200 in free bets instantly.
- Caesars Maryland: Caesars has a two-part offer: You can receive $100 in free bets or you can receive $1,500 back in free bets if you lose your first bet.
- BetMGM Maryland: BetMGM has a welcome offer of $100 in first-bet insurance.
- FanDuel Maryland: FanDuel’s new users can score $200 in free bets.
- PointsBet Maryland: PointsBet has one of the more generous offers, with $200 in free bets and five $100 Second Chance bets. Make sure to use PointsBet Maryland bonus code OFFERMD.
